MDE=Military Double Edge
History of this knife goes back to early 90’s. As practitioner of South-East Asian Martial Arts created a need to find a knife of my desired usage. When I couldn’t find a suitable one from market at that time the idea of designing my own model was born. The first prototype was made by a knife smith in Northern Finland 1994. It wasn’t as ordered by my preference.
The first version fulfilling more or less required criteria was made by myself as an aluminium trainer. The size and profile were pretty okay. Years went by and thoughts of designing the knife developed by experience of Martial Arts practise.
2009 the first industrially made patch of 10 pieces was manufactured. I was living in Hong Kong and knives were made by Chinese knife smith in Guangzhou. That version was 90% ready by my design and criteria.
The current and final version was ready on 2019 as prototype patch of four pieces. At last fine tuned size, profile and especially the balance were perfectly as designed.
BLADE
The blade of our HBMDE is made by Finnish Laurin Metalli Oy with more than 100 years of knife manufacturing experience.
Laurin Metalli Oy started making knives on year 1918 in location of Kauhava.
Now 4th generation knife smith masters are still at company’s original location.
Long history of making blades combined with modern materials and manufacturing process guarantees high quality blades.
For these simple reasons we at Horus Blades chose Laurin Metalli Oy to make our blades.
HANDLE
Handle scales are machined with latest CNC technology by PSL-Hietaranta Oy at Kauhajoki.
PSL-Hietaranta Oy is a second generation family business and it has over 45 years experience of machining different materials and furniture of public facilities.
COATING
This knive has been coated with Cerakote by Black Swan Tactical Solutions Inc. Helsinki Finland.
Our company is specialized in coating of weapons and tactical equipment.

Our founder has more than 30 years experience in weapons and tactical materials for the Finnish Defence Forces.
He has served as a weapon warfare instructor and teacher of weapons technology and use of force.
SHEATH
Drefence is a small company started int 2021 based out of Finland.
The company owner has at the point of creating the company already had 4 years of experience within working with kydex.
The owner also has a lot of experience with other small project work.
The owner is a reserve officer who has earned himself the green beret of the coastal jaegers.
The owner has after a short military career been working as a police officer in different units.
